Get into gardening with your local garden centre
Sep 30, 2015
It happens to the best of us...
You head to the big box store with the best of intentions… start a garden, add a little greenery to your house or office, or beautify your landscape. A few weeks down the road, you are at a loss as to why your beautiful plant is failing to thrive. You begin the cycle of too much water, too little water, frustration, despair. Eventually you give up and pass the plant off to a friend with a ‘greener thumb’ or toss it in the trash, defeated.
Before you give up on gardening altogether, here’s the top tip from the greenest thumbs we know:
Shop at a local garden centre. Particularly one who grows their own plants.
Although we have tons of reasons for why you should shop local, the main reason to buy your plants from local growers is that their plants are raised and best suited for our growing environment. A plant shipped in from other areas of North America won’t be as capable of handling our hot summers and wet winters.
These local garden centers, all part of the Circle Farm Tour guide, grow almost all of their own plants and are an excellent source for new and experienced gardeners.
