The Fraser Valley Sunflower Trail
Jul 17, 2019
Known for its vibrant yellow petals and uncanny ability to brighten any space and spirit, the sunflower is commonly associated with the carefree days of summer. Nothing will leave you more speechless and in aw then seeing endless rows of beaming sunflowers in full bloom.
If you’re looking for the best places this summer to get your sunflower fix, look no further than BC's Fraser Valley! Here are the locations that will take you along the golden Sunflower Trail:
Every day from August 1 to September 15, make your way through 35 varieties of peak-season sunflowers — from two-foot Dwarf Sunspots to 12-foot Mammoth Grey Stripes, in varying shades of yellow, orange and red. Pick your own Sunrich Orange sunflowers to take home, as well as cut sunflowers and field flowers, sunflower-inspired gifts, and onsite-grown spring bulbs of tulips and daffodils.
Plus, this year includes the addition of 54 varieties of dahlias, a giant pumpkin patch, and a field of pick-your-own Chilliwack corn (while supplies last).
The Chilliwack Sunflower Festival provides countless opportunities to take perfect keepsake photos and videos. Throughout the grounds, find swing sets, an operational windmill, a vintage bicycle, face cut-outs, and more. Weekends include the added attraction of free rides through the fields.
Guests of all ages will also love the many outdoor lawn games taking place: Yardzee; bolaball; “giant” Jenga, tic-tac-toe, and checkers; and more.
Afterward, retreat from the late-summer sun and enjoy cold drinks, ice cream and snacks in a special covered area. Local food trucks will be on site daily.
On-leash pets are welcome — a drinking area and complimentary pick-up bags will be available.

From farm animals, pony and hay rides, to fresh cider, Taves just keeps getting better and better!
Guests can either take a hayride to the Sunflower Patch or enjoy a short 5-minute walk. Spanning over a 1/4 acre and pollinated by local bees, these vibrant yellow flowers are expected to be in full for the Applebarn’s opening week. The main varieties are Mardi Grass, Ring of Fire, Autumn Beauty, and Dwarf Sunspot.
For those curious, admission rates are at the regular prices. No added cost, just an extra dose of fun! Get your cameras ready and be sure to snap away with a cup of fresh-pressed apple cider in hand!
Known for its buzzing business, Campbell’s Honey Farm and Meadery is serving up more than just honey this summer.
Mike and Judy Campbell who operate the diversified 8-acre farm, including an apiary, offer off-farm honeybee pollination services to local growers with a focus on honey and honey wine (mead) production. The on-farm country store that opened back in 2007 has provided a space for locals to buy various honeys, honey wines, beeswax soaps, candles, polishes, and much more.
Guests can stop by the farm to get a fix for ‘all things honey’ and then cap their visit by taking a gander through the sunflower gardens. Lining the property is a border of blooming sunflowers that will ‘bee’ sure to attract those busy hive workers looking for the perfect photo backdrop. You can also buy a stem for $1 or six stems for $5!
On July 27th, Campbell’s is hosting their annual mead fest celebration.

The Eco Dairy is located on the corner of Sumas Way and Highway 1 so this sunflower field has high visibility from Highway 1, enroute to Chilliwack. As people travel from the Abbotsford International Airport, they can easily jump on the #1 and are down by the Eco Dairy in 10 minutes. The experience is as follows: Guests can pick up a U-Pick container (1, 3, 5 lb sizes), go to the fields (no spray), and pick a pint of blackberries or blueberries. Adjacent to the U-Pick area is an idyllic bridge and a half-acre sunflower field for pictures!
Old Yale Brewing - Experience the sunniest of Saison!
Hand-crafted with malted Sunflower seeds, this Saison by Old Yale Brewing is a celebration of the beautiful fields at the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival!! An earthy, herbal and grassy character compliments the rustic and subtly spicy flavour from the Belgian Saison yeast. Experience the sunniest of seasons (or should we say Saisons) with Old Yale and the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival by sipping on this Saison after admiring the towering Sunflowers.
This brew is very limited so come give it a try in the Tasting Room while you can! (We recommend hitting the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival first and then popping by for the best experience). Cheers!
